Standing up a flying-car program from scratch would take a decade. Our founding teams already have what it takes: world-class engineering shops, deep supplier networks, manufacturing capability, race-day operations, and sponsorship relationships built over generations.
X1 Racing brings the other half of the equation — the leadership and vision to define a new airborne discipline, extensive industry relationships across motorsport, and deep experience in vehicle testing and motorsport R&D. Together, that means launching faster, smarter, and with less duplicated effort than any from-scratch program could match.
Their established commercial sponsor relationships accelerate deployment of the federal match pool through proven sales channels. And because several of our prospective teams already hold defense-related contracts, the X-1 Cup is positioned from day one as a dual-use platform — where breakthroughs born on the racetrack carry naturally into national security and advanced mobility applications.
An initial $2.2 billion direct federal grant will support prospective teams, suppliers, and contractors during early R&D — proof-of-concept hardware, demonstrator integration, and powertrain and airframe prototyping. The goal is simple: compress the timeline from grant execution to first powered flight.
From there, an $8.8 billion federal matching authority unlocks dollar-for-dollar against $8.8 billion in private capital raised through team sponsorships and partner investment — bringing the total program impact to approximately $19.8 billion in mobilized capital across American engineering, manufacturing, and motorsport.

X1 Racing commits to working alongside their existing motorsport obligations through schedule deconfliction, transparent roster planning, and good-faith engagement with current sanctioning bodies.
